Certified compostable paperboard offers a fiber-based solution
for sustainable food packaging
Jakarta, Indonesia – May 26, 2026 – APP Group today announced that its Foopak Bio Natura paperboard has received certification from the Biodegradable Products Institute (BPI), one of North America’s leading organizations for verifying compostable products and packaging.
BPI certification confirms that Foopak Bio Natura meets rigorous third-party standards for compostability. This standard, provides converters, brand owners, and consumers’ confidence that the paperboard is sustainable when developing packaging solutions.
The certification demonstrates compliance with internationally recognized compostability standards, including ASTM D6400 and ASTM D6868. Foopak Bio Natura also holds Home and Industrial Compostability certifications from TÜV Rheinland and DIN CERTCO. Together, these certifications and test results provide comprehensive thirdparty validation that Foopak Bio Natura meets globally recognized standards for sustainable packaging applications.

In addition, Foopak Bio Natura is certified by ISEGA for compliance with both EN 13432 and NF T51-800 compostability standards. It is also certified for recyclability by Cyclos-HTP in accordance with EN 13430 and has successfully passed Western Michigan University repulpability testing. Independent testing further confirms that the product is PFAS-free and meets stringent environmental and safety requirements.
